E3 – Nintendo

Nintendo’s always an interesting one to do because in recent years they haven’t done an actual Press Conference, instead they do a Nintendo Direct and then they have the Nintendo Treehouse Team set up at the show and show you how great all of the games are. It’s the reason that this one took so long is because I’ve watched so many different gameplay videos. Me and my brother were talking about Marvel Ultimate Alliance and then we both realized that we had watched two separate 30 minute clips. That’s how much Nintendo is showing, if my issue with every other conference was little to no gameplay shown then I knew that I could always count on Nintendo, maybe not in the direct itself but considering there are 3 days with a 6 hour long stream of games then I think we can cut them some slack on that one.

Luigi’s Mansion 3

Luigi’s Mansion 3 looks wonderful! The new gameplay mechanics such as the ability to slam ghosts and to use his doppelganger, Gooigi to access secret areas and solve puzzles.

Plus, in this game Luigi isn’t tehcnically in a mansion this time. Instead, he’s in a Hotel where each floor is a different setting. So far, they’ve shown a castle setting and a movie studio and both look fantastic!

I can’t wait for this game but the fact that we didn’t get an official date means that we might even have to wait until 2020 for us to get it. I certainly hope not but I know that it’ll be worth the wait!

Release Window – 2019

Link’s Awakening

This is a game that came out of nowhere when it was announced back in March but I’m so excited for it! Obviously any Legend Of Zelda game gets me excited but this one just looks great and it’s one that I never actually got around to playing so it’ll be a brand new experience for me.

It does go back to the top down view for Legend Of Zelda just like the original did but the updated graphics and sound just make it look so good. It looks both, like a completely new game and like a perfect recreation of the original.

I think the fact that you can make your own dungeons is a great addition and I would love to see it implemented in a Super Mario Maker style in the future.

Release Date – September 20th, 2019

The Witcher 3 Complete Edition

I mean, do I need to explain why I’m excited about this one? The power of the switch is so incredibly impressive. First Breath of the Wild and now this!

Release Window – 2019

Fire Emblem : Three Houses

I don’t know if I can properly describe how excited I am for this game. It was first announced 2 years ago and now it’s finally happening! The gameplay showcased the idea of being a professor of one of the titular three houses and leading your students into battle if you have to. It’s a great idea for the player/main character to be so involved in the characters lives and I’m so looking forward to getting to know all of the different characters in the game.

The first part of the game takes place while you’re still a teacher and then at some point in the game there is a 5 year time jump and you get to see how all of the students and faculty have grown since then. Unfortunately this is supposedly also when a war breaks out and now you’re called to lead your students in battle.  Leveling up your characters has never worked better because now you are literally their teacher and their leader!

The combat updates that they’ve done are great as well. Such as each character being the leader of a unit of people that can boost your stats and allow them to do different abilities in battle. Honestly though, my favorite of the new things in the game is the updated battle animations and how every single one is different.

I love so many of the ideas for this game and can’t wait to play it! I’m so excited!

Release Date – July 26th, 2019

Resident Evil on Switch

It’s one of my favorite series and I’m honestly excited to play Resident Evil 5 Again because I remember enjoying it a lot when I first played it but I also remember it getting a lot of crap from other fans.

As for Resident Evil 6, I’ve heard some pretty bad things and I only played the first 30 minutes or so just cause I was trying out PSNow but now I’d like to give it another shot.

The bottom line is that this is bringing us closer to Resident Evil VII and Resident Evil 2 on Switch and I’m all for that!

Release Window – Fall 2019

Pokemon Sword and Shield

They showcased some new things for us and cleared up certain aspects of things that we saw in the trailer.

We now have confirmation that the big stadiums from the trailers are officially the new gyms and I honestly love the change!

The Dynamax Pokemon is one of the best things they’ve done for the series in a while. Fighting one in the wild is something that you have to team up with up to 4 other people for. The video looks pretty awesome and I love that the pokemon you’re facing is so powerful that he can use multiple attacks per turn. It’ll take a lot of strategy and planning to be able to take these guys on.

In the wild you’ll be able to see most of the pokemon that you can find. Sure, there will be a few surprises in the grass as well but I love that they’re making it a more fully realized region that is teeming with life.

This will easily be one of the best games of the year!

Release Date – November 15th, 2019

Astral Chain

Astral Chain is the new game from PlatinumGames, creators of Games such as Bayonetta and Nier : Automata. Both of those were known for their quick pace and frenetic action. Astral Chain looks to be no different from the trailer above.

Apparently the story will be about you bonding with a creature called a legion chimera and together the two of you will be fighting off other Chimera that are invading your world from the astral plane. The world has been polluted by the invasion and humankind has retreated to the city that the game takes place in.

I love games that can utilize multiple different gameplay styles to tell their story and from the motorcycle chase that the game starts with and the combat that utilizes both your and your legion’s abilities. The game looks incredible just like everything that Platinum has brought us before it.

Release Date – August 30th, 2019

Marvel Ultimate Alliance : The Black Order

I mean, I don’t even have to say it, you know I’m excited for this game! Not only do I obviously love the characters and the comics but i love the Marvel Ultimate Alliance games and I’m really excited to see it come back.

The gameplay demos that they showed really showed the power of the system and of the game itself. The animations look amazing and they all look like they came right off of the page. There’s over 30 characters that have been announced as playable from the Avengers, X-Men, Defenders and the Guardians of the Galaxy. Plus they announced that there will be an expansion pack for Marvel Knights, X-Men and The Fantastic Four.

The gameplay looks really interesting because it looks like they’ve brought back the traditional top down view, but then one of the boss fights is on a fixed camera and then there’s even a chase sequence where you’re running from the Juggernaut. This was easily one of the best games they showed and I can’t wait to play it

Release Date – July 19th, 2019. Expansion Pack coming in Fall 2019.

Mario and Sonic at The Olympic Games

It’s making a comeback! A new game was predicted by many people since the Olympic games will be held in Tokyo next year. Mario and Sonic has been a fan favorite since the first one premiered on the Wii back in 2007. It’s full of different mini-games and allows for so many different multiplayer options. There wasn’t a gameplay demo yet but we saw the footage above and we know that there will be online play and a slew of new games to play.

Release Window – November 2019

Animal Crossing : New Horizons

New Horizons looks like it’s going to be a great addition to the series. New gameplay mechanics plus tried and true classics such as Fishing, Gardening and building your own house.

In fact, this time around you’re actually helping to build up the entire community from the look of it.

So it did get delayed but we still don’t have too much longer to wait. I’m always ok with Nintendo delaying their games anyway because I know that they’re working to make them as good as they can for us fans and they’re not wanting to overwork their employees.

Release Date – March 20th, 2020

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Dude! I love the ideas behind the Dragon Quest characters in Smash! Including all of the heroes as either Echos/Costumes was a nice touch.

I’m not 100% certain how the Turn Based Attacks are going to work but I’m excited to see more gameplay of them!

But that wasn’t the only announcement for Smash Bros…

They’re finally here! After waiting for so long! Banjo-Kazooie is in Smash! I think he’s a great addition to the roster and his stage looks like a lot of fun too!

Release Window : Dragon Quest – Summer 2019

Release Window : Banjo-Kazooie – Fall 2019

Breath Of The Wild Sequel

Obviously this is huge! I knew we would get a new Legend Of Zelda game but I didn’t think it would be this soon and I definitely didn’t think it would be a direct sequel to Breath Of The Wild.

The trailer looks awesome and creepy and…are those twilight noises I hear? Could we also be getting a return to the Twilight Realm? Only time will tell!

Clearly, I’m of the belief that Nintendo had the best Conference. They put the games out there in trailers and then made sure that everyone who wanted to see more could by watching the Nintendo Treehouse Streams on YouTube and I fully encourage you to do so!
