E3 – Square Enix

Square had a very good showing this year. They gave us pretty much everything we wanted from and honestly I would consider them the best in show if it wasn’t for a certain other Japanese Gaming Company…More on that later.

Final Fantasy VII Remake

The Final Fantasy VII remake is something that I didn’t think I would see anymore of. I honestly thought it would be stuck in development forever but now it’s almost here. As someone who didn’t grow up with the game, I’m incredibly excited to see what they can do with the remake.

I love the new combat system! You control one person at a time and can switch between members of your party with a simple button press. Very similar to Final Fantasy XII in this regard and I love the possibilities of it. What starts out as a demo with seemingly a hack and slash approach quickly becomes more, you can build up command bars which allow you to enter a tactical mode where you can do special attacks, use magic or just take a second to plan your next attack. Your partners will keep fighting and targeting at random or you can switch and take control of them to target certain enemies if you would like.

Between the updated graphics, the new gameplay mechanics and the fantastic score, I think this could be one of the best remakes in recent years.

Release Date – March 3rd, 2020

Dragon Quest XI : Echoes of an Elusive Age and Dragon Quest Builders 2

So I’ve never actually gotten into any of the Dragon Quest Games but it looks like there’s a golden opportunity for me to start now!

Dragon Quest Builders 2 looks incredibly fun, it looks like a perfect mix of the Minecraft setup and the JRPG antics that people are used to from the Dragon Quest series. It’s your goal to help everyone build up this island after a villain banned all creativity and building. It seems pretty on the nose but it looks great!

Echoes of an Elusive age looks like a great place for me and other newcomers to jump in. Especially since you can switch back and forth between the modern and contemporary style of the game. It’s like it’s a fantastic story and I’d really like to try and get into the series with this title.

Dragon Quest Builders 2 PS4 Demo – June 27th, 2019.

Dragon Quest Builders 2 Release Date – July 12th, 2019.

Dragon Quest XI : Echoes of an Elusive Age Release Window – Fall 2019.

Kingdom Hearts : Re Mind

This is the first time that they’ve released DLC for a Kingdom Hearts game and I’m very intrigued to see what they do with it. The trailer shown above shows just a few moments of Gameplay and will either give you spoilers or greatly confuse you. I am curious though now, Who is Luxord? Oh man! Just thinking about getting more of this great story gets me excited!

I have no idea if/how much it will cost and no idea about how long the actual DLC will be but I’ll be posting more as soon as I know.

Release Window – Winter 19/20(I would assume January)

Dying Light 2

I still haven’t played the first one but from what I’ve heard and seen, a lot of the gameplay makes it seem like Mirror’s Edge with Zombies which I am 100% down for cause that sounds awesome. I plan on picking up the first one soon and trying it out before the new game comes out next year.

Release Window – Spring 2020(I’m assuming April.)

Outriders

I feel like a broken record when I say this but Outriders looks really cool but it didn’t show any gameplay. It is an early concept trailer and it does have the longest time to go until release of just about any game announced at E3 this year.

It’s from the guys who did Bulletstorm so I’m pretty excited to see what wild and bombastic things we get to do in this game.

Release Window – Summer 2020

Final Fantasy VIII Remastered

I genuinely remember loving this game as a kid and everyone gives me crap for it. Either way, I don’t care. I’m ready to enter the world of Final Fantasy VIII again and see that epic Squall Vs. Seifer fight at least 8 more times.

Release Window – 2019

Marvel’s Avengers

I’ve been looking forward to this game ever since the concept trailer was shown 2 years ago. They showed us the story trailer which featured a few moments of actual gameplay. They did the full demo behind closed doors unfortunately so there isn’t a full demo released to the public yet but it won’t be long before we see a lot more of the game.

The first five that were revealed to be playable were Black Widow, Iron Man, Hulk, Thor and Captain America. They hinted at other playable characters and special content exclusive for the PS4 including early beta access. Could this also be a confirmation of Spider-Man being in the game? I certainly hope so!

I’m still not exactly sure how this game is going to work as a Co-Op but I’m very excited for it and promise to report on it as soon as I learn more!

Release Date – May 15th, 2020
