E3 : Ubisoft

Ubisoft’s was probably the weirdest of the conferences to me because it had some of the lowest points and yet it also had one of the best games at the show. Let’s get right to it.

Watch Dogs : Legion

This one just looks amazing and Ubisoft put it first to come out with a bang. One of the best parts of it was the fact that they showed the actual gameplay in the trailer itself. I understand that seems like an odd compliment but look at the rest of the conferences to understand why this is a thing.

I’ve personally never played either of the previous Watch Dogs games mainly because they had quite a few issues with the first one when it first came out and honestly it just didn’t interest me enough. That being said, the new looks fantastic. You’re in London, which has been completely overtaken by a totalitarian regime and your goal is to recruit the best team possible to fight them. Need an expert in hacking? Find the best hacker. Need a fighter? Find the best boxer in the city. Need a super spy? Find a former Mi6 operative. You can literally recruit anyone you see in the game. Yes, Including the old lady who’s an assassin.

If the finished product can actually deliver on the concept of recruiting anyone and hacking anything then this could easily be the most impressive game at the show and the best game that Ubisoft has put out. I personally can’t wait to try it out.

Release Date – March 6th, 2020

Ghost Recon : Breakpoint

Honestly, they didn’t show much more of the actual game besides a new game trailer that went further into the backstory of Jon Bernthal’s character. He’s a former ghost himself name Cole D. Walker who has set up a small army on the island of Auroa and has taken over the tech company that was previously there to build drones for different regimes. Your goal as a Ghost is to infiltrate and take him down.

The game looks pretty cool and if they really focus on the squad based gameplay and the survival elements that are shown in the trailers then I think that it could be a solid game and possibly even a contender against Call Of Duty…Ok, maybe not that crazy but it could still be good.

I do have to say that while the game looked great and Jon Bernthal’s Presentation was good(Especially with Bam Bam the Dog.) and the woman who came out and was the community director for both WIldlands and Breakpoint was good, the guy who came out afterward just seemed very off. He looked like they either asked him to do it the day before and he didn’t have enough time for rehearsal or he was way too pumped to go out there. I know that seems contradictory but trust me, it was just a little weird.

Release Date – October 4th, 2019.

Rainbow Six Quarantine

Rainbow Six Quarantine showed just a concept trailer for the game which will be a tactical 3 player Co-Op. They said that it would be to PVE what Siege was to PVP. I’m 100% behind that and look forward to trying out the game, especially if it’s going to be you and 2 friends in a zombie shooter…since Valve can’t count to 3.

Release Window – Early 2020

The Division 2

The 3 Episodes/Updates will open up a new area on the outskirts of DC and will have a bunch of new missions for everyone to try out. The trailer looked pretty awesome and I like that it’s still a 1 to 1 scale of DC and the surrounding areas. I’m really excited to see what they can do with this update such as adding the National Zoo in Episode 1, the Pentagon in Episode 2 as well as the return to New York in the 3rd update at the end of the year.

Gods and Monsters

On one hand this seemed like an odd choice to finish the conference on because it’s a mythological game trailer that shows next to no gameplay and doesn’t tell you exactly what it’s going to be about…that being said, it’s from the same team who did Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and they were Game Of The Year contenders last year so it kinda makes sense. The trailer looks cool but I’m definitely ready to see some gameplay on this one.

Release Date February 25th, 2020

Overall, I was a bit disappointed that we didn’t see anything of the new Assassin’s Creed, Beyond Good and Evil 2 or Splinter Cell. All three of which had been rumored to be at E3 and all three of which would’ve broken the internet, Overall it showed some good stuff but I just wish there had been a few more main titles at the conference.
