RL : Also, little call back to civil war: Bruce here says vision has bits of a lot of people, even him. I think we see the Banner rage in civil war when Wanda gets hurt and vision unleashes a random stone blast towards falcon.

“Its kind of your fault that I’m here” That’ll stick with Tony.

R : Ironman and spidey remind me of josh and jacob in this scene lol

WS : Wish Spidey got to interact with the Avengers more.

R : Same

RL : IRON SPIDER LEGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Original Artwork by @Maxbeechcreative, go follow him on Instagram!

VM : He will when he comes back within the first 45 minutes of the next movie which is 3 hours long.

R : I mean, that’s fair.

WS : We dont deserve Tom Holland.

RL : We dont trade lives, Strange

WS : He doesn’t.

VM : “You’re an Avenger, now”

For a film with over 60 major characters, everyone gets a solid story arc.

R : I want gamoras hair.

RL : So in guardians 1, dont they say Gamora is the last of her race?

R : Yes

RL : So is thanos lying? Or is he delusional?

I lean more toward delusional.

R : Both?

VM : I think it’s an accident.

On the MCU’s part.

RL : That sounds pretty sloppy for the mcu. They have pretty incredible attention to detail.

R : True.

WS : It’s a strange thing to say, but this movie is very subtle.

“The earth is overpopulated.”

“Some lives arent worth saving.”

“They are rapists and murderers.”

“Life needs correction.”

Thanos expresses a very popular moral.

RL : Thanos is making eugenics great again.

WS : I mean, what’s kids in cages if we are protected from terrorists?

Abortion is a solid choice, because the child wont have much of a life anyway.

See, subtle?

R : Oh Snap!

VM : This might be Hemsworth’s best film.

WS : Easily.

R : Nooooo!

Eye Patch Thor, we hardly knew ye.

VM : RIP

I love the design of Nidavellir by the way.

RL : Here we go! My second favorite side character appearance in this movie!

R : Its the game of thrones homie

VM : It is indeed, the Game Of Thrones homie.

WS : Peter Dinklage is great.

RL : So was there ever a legit infinity gauntlet on asgard?

WS : No.

VM : Nope, remember? “Fake”

RL : Or just a fake? And the after credits scene where thanos takes the gauntlet is presumably followed by him realizing it’s fake and going to Eitri.

So eitri never made a real gauntlet until thanos came. It was always just a blueprint that Odin had and made into a fake.

VM : Also, yeah, that’s how I took it Al.

R : So, is she kinda like a cyborg?

VM : Yup. She’s been pulled apart and put back together by Thanos time and time again.

RL : Kind of like Rocket!

VM : He was trying to make her the perfect weapon and then he found Gamora. Which is why Nebula hated her at first.

R : But a part of her is organic matter of some sort. Not necessarily human, but yeah.

Right?

WS : Yes.

R : This was such a Solid Plan. Lets bicker while the fate of the universe hangs in the balance.

RL : There’s strange watching endgame.

VM : He doesn’t Spoil anything though!

R : Classy.

RL : The Hero We Need.

VM : My favorite Side Character is coming!

R : 🙄🙄🙄

VM : I love his inclusion in this movie!

RL : This is my favorite side character appearance.

R : 🧐🧐🧐

WS : The Red Skull is your favorite side character? What is Going On?

R : Not I.

VM : Ross Marquand does such a great job!

RL : He’s my favorite appearance. Probably because it surprised me so much

VM : Thank you, Al.

WS : Why did everyone think this proved Thanos’ love?

Follow @maxbeechcreative on Instagram for more fantastic art like this!

Do they not teach Greek mythology anymore.

RL : Not Really.

R : I agree with Gamora.

WS : I figured most would, Ginny.

VM : I mean, one of the most evil characters, tells another one of the most evil characters that a sacrifice of “Love” would release an item of pure evil.

RL : RIP Gamora.

I’m sure she’ll never come up again.

R : I can’t even take the scene seriously.

WS : Too bad we will only see her for 20 minutes in the next movie.

VM : That being said, none of us have mentioned how amazing Brolin is as an Actor here.

R : Sure

He’s great

🧐🧐🧐

WS : Brolin is very good.

VM : I mean, he is. He’s not a good character but his ability as an actor is exceptional.

RL : I can’t wait for the battle with the totally not symbiotes.

VM : Bucky!!!!

WS : That Smile Though.

R : Unmatched.

WS : Bucky is so dreamy.

RL : I’m not trying to be dramatic…But I would die for princess shuri.

Oh, here come the totally not symbiotes.

VM : The Battle Of Wakanda is a fantastic finale.

R : I wish Bucky was in this movie more.

VM : “And Get this man A Shield”

R : I love clumsy hulk.
He’s so cute.

VM : M’Baku!

R : I love m’baku 💃

RL : I wish M’Baku had more screen time.

R : In all the things.

VM : The meeting of the Generals.

WS : Black Widow is just great.

RL : “Nothing but dust and blood”

R : Ok, so what are these things?

RL : Totally, 100% completely not symbiotes.

R : Gross.

WS : But… they arent though.

R : Ok, then what are they?

VM : They’re called Outriders. I can’t remember if they’re a new species created for the film or if they were a random choice.

RL : They’re rabid, covered in black ooze, with razor teeth and white coloring on their bodies.

Never before seen design.

VM : Wakanda Forever!

WS : Yeah, but they arent black ooze.

R : We found the difference.

RL : Are we watching the same movie?

VM : Steve and T’Challa leading the way is a mood.

RL : Did you see that distended jaw, long tongue? And random designs of black on their bodies.

Might not be called symbiotes because Sony likes to argue, but that is very clearly the design

WS : I thought symbiote referred to the ooze itself.

RL : On the symbiote planet you see that pretty much anything the parasite inhabits takes on that general appearance.

Animals, humanoids, whatever.

VM : Thor looks like me at the Gym here.

I love that Stormbreaker is part Groot.

R : I do too!

WS : Alright, logical question that Al should bring up: why doesnt Thor go to Titan?

R : I agree. I remember watching this and assuming thats where he was heading.

VM : 1. 2nd Best Entrance in this movie.

2. Good point, Josh.

RL : Wasn’t he still operating on the knowledge that the remaining stones were on earth?

R : Oh yeah, thats true!

WS : Nope, you are right. Thor didnt know about Titan.

RL : Fan theory for the mcu: this is another thanos delusion. Titan was always a war torn %#$@hole.

VM : Hmm, hadn’t thought about that.

R : Chop. Off. His. Head. Dr. Strange. Oh. My. God.

RL : Omg spidey is perfect

VM : He has the power stone, it wouldn’t work that way.

WS : Yeah. You gotta get the gauntlet off him.

R : It only works for hands in the beginning of the film.

VM : Hands that don’t hold Infinity Stones, yes.

R : Sorry, sent that before i read yalls messages lol

WS : Power stone makes him impervious.

RL : Ok. Star lord, go help. You have the strength of an eternal.

VM : This is absolutely a Peter Quill Move by the way.

WS : 100%

R : 🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃

VM : I hate it, but it’s accurate.

R : Cool.

VM : Tony is trying so hard.

RL : Man spidey had it.

R : Yeah he did.

VM : Spider-Man is the best.

RL : I would’ve lost my mind seeing Spidey with the infinity gauntlet

VM : You and me both.

R : Rocket and bucky need their own spin off.

VM : Absolutely!

The damn Lawnmower Tanks

RL : “No more Outriders”  – Wanda

Movie Over.

WS : Best comment ever Al.

VM : Hahaha that would’ve been great.

Proxima Midnight is nothing to Wanda, Natasha and Okoye.

RL : Girl power.

God Wanda is awesome

VM : Poor Vision. I know he kinda sucked in Civil War but I love him here.

RL : Spidey saves so many people. Never stops being his main objective.

WS : Such cool Spidey stuff. Too bad he won’t be in most of the next movie.

RL : Also, strange v thanos is the best fight in all of the MCU

R : Thanos, I’ve come to bargain…

VM : Did the effects win the oscar? Cause they should’ve. (Update : It was nominated but “First Man” won.)

WS : I’d actually say Tony does better against Thanos than Strange.

VM : He makes him Bleed.

RL : Yes. But strange looks cooler.

VM : That’s fair, even though I love Tony’s Suit.

“It was the only way”

RL : What a badass entrance.

VM : Such a terrifying scene.

WS : Every part of the rest of this movie is dumb.

R : Agreed.

RL : Oh wanda. Precious. Perfect. Wanda

WS : Agreed.

What is Thor doing at this point?

R : Chilling. Hanging out Maxing.

VM : That’s a very fair question here.

WS : I like Steve grabbing the gauntlet.

RL : Shes so strong!

R : Shes the only one that makes him stumble.

VM : Wanda has to hold him off and kill the love of her life while Thor isn’t even there.

WS : You have a weapon designed to kill Thanos, and when he shows up you arent around?

RL : Stfu Thanos. You have no idea what she’s lost.

Did thor know thanos had shown up?

also, why didnt he go for the head?

WS : Steve says, “Everyone on me.’

VM : Like, Thor did that while he had all 6. If he got there when he just had 5 then the movie ends entirely different.

R : I mean, i would have at least been like “hmmm. Where did everyone else go?”

RL : This is a very minor thing…But you could not physically snap in a gauntlet.

WS : Are you kidding Al?

VM : Al’s right. Movie’s Broken.

R : Anything is possible in this movie.

RL : Even his arm disintegrated.

R : Next question: so its the entire universe….how does Captain marvel not notice before shes even called?

Also, it takes spidey 30 mins to turn to dust.

WS : I bet she notices.

RL : I think spidey’s SPIDER sense was trying to warn him and fight it off.

VM : That’s even worse!

R : That makes sense.

WS : “He did it… He made the next movie less entertaining.”

VM : Steve saying “Oh God” kills me every time.

WS : “He did it… He knocked out people from billion dollar franchises that we know are coming back.”

RL : Huh. We don’t see his left hand.

R : Interesting observation.

Man, its so bad lol

Yeah, my opinion stays the same. Except, the characters do stick to their true form.
Thats easier to see after watching the avengers movies the last couple of weeks.

RL : Yeah, I’ll go back on my Star Lord criticisms.

I still love it though.

VM : It’s one of those things where I think I’ll like it a lot more after Thursday.

WS : The ending is just clunky. No way around it. We know there are no stakes because of who they kill off.

R : I mean, that part doesnt even bother me that much. Its just dumb.

RL : Didnt Jacob write an article literally addressing that?

VM : I did, but he doesn’t like my assessment.

Shameless Plug here : http://fandomcorrespondents.com/2018/05/02/why-does-infinity-war-matter

WS : It’s a flawed assessment.

VM : Also, this is Silvestri’s best work on the Score. No way around it.

WS : Agreed.

VM : There’s weight to every note and it moves the scenes perfectly.

RL : But dont we have that expectation almost every time we watch a superhero movie?

WS : I realize I’m just salty cause I love Black Panther and because Spidey is perfect, so I want more, but honestly when they “died” I found it disingenuous.

RL : I had no misconceptions in homecoming that Vulture was gonna kill spidey. It still let me enjoy the movie

VM : Dude! Hill is back!

RL : For a whole 20 seconds!

WS : But here is the thing Al, if the snap had taken down Okoye, Bucky, Wanda, that one guy, Drax, Mantis, Rocket, Nebula, then everyone’s thoughts would have been “Oh crap.” But taking out Black Panther 2 months after he had a 3 billion dollar movie? Come on now…

VM : Alright, well let’s do the traditional questions.

Biggest Strength :

Biggest Weakness :

Where does it rank among the other films :

And of course, who’s your MVP?

R : Wow.
Um.
Ok….
Strength?
Geez. Idk dude.

I guess….steve and bucky? Idk

Alright…strength: dr strange being the only one with any sense i guess.

Weakness? All of it lol

Its ranks dead last for me.

Mvp i suppose is wanda, overall.

Other than the first Captain America, i think its the only mcu film that puts me in a foul mood afterwards.

WS : Biggest Strength: It goes out of it’s way to prove to us that Steve and Tony’s divorce is disastrous. The Avengers, when they stand together are unstoppable. Here, they dont stand together and they lose. No other trilogy of movies has ever been as thematically consistent.

Weakness: The ending. For all the reasons I have mentioned.

Ranking: Of the movies we watched, it’s my least favorite. But it’s also, one, not a true Avengers movie, and two, only half the story.

MVP: Brolin as Thanos. It’s his movie all the way through. He is detestable, while at the same time propping a mirror up towards some of the more detestable aspects of our culture. Basically, what Snyder wanted to do in Batman V Superman, the Russos accomplished in Infinity War.

R : Josh, thats a good point. I guess my opinion of this movie may change after endgame, because itll be a whole movie then? Idk.

RL : Strengths: Thanos exceeded almost everyone’s expectations for him for the last 10 years. Brolin plays the sympathetic villain so well that you easily forget he’s pure evil, especially for people who didnt know a lot about thanos already.

Weakness: the ending is definitely cheapened by it being part one of a two part movie. It feels incomplete

Ranking: I still love it. Again, having not seen the second part that is endgame, it’s probably third on my list. Its weaknesses cant outweigh the wonderful characters, thematic writing, and action sequences for me

MVP: Spider-Man, and I dont even feel cheap or fanboyish for this one. Throughout the movie, he doesn’t rely on edginess or drama or emotionality. He is the purest hero character in the whole movie.

VM : Biggest Strength for me is it’s pacing. It seems like an odd Strength but it goes at lightning speed compared to a lot of other films while juggling roughly 3-5 main storylines and it never felt to me like anyone was struggling for screentime. That’s mainly due to the writing and direction and they honestly pulled off something incredibly rare.

Biggest weakness for me is the ending, Josh is right and I’m ok admitting it. 1. Thor takes way too long to get there to fight Thanos and it doesn’t work unless you just say “Eh, it’s a movie” but the studio does so well besides that that it’s really hard to watch and understand. Besides the main 6 Avengers I probably would’ve changed up most of the deaths as well. At least with Black Panther and Spider-Man.

It ranks as my least favorite Avengers Film but it isn’t my least favorite MCU film.

For My MVP, It’s gotta be Thor. This is Hemsworth’s best performance and it’s because it’s a Thor that we haven’t seen before because he literally thinks that he’s lost everything. He’s incredibly powerful after he gets Stormbreaker and he turns the first main battle after he gets there…but he can’t get to Thanos in time…which kinda sucks.

RL : Oh wow, it isnt even close to my least favorite mcu movie.

R : What is your least favorite, Al?

RL : Thor: the dark world by far. Then probably IM2 and then probably the first Thor.

Which thor 1 and IM2 aren’t even bad movies; they’re just my least favorite of a lot of great movies

VM : See, I always liked IM2 better than 3.

RL : Nah, I really like 3. I’m a sucker for PTSD themes in superhero stuff.

VM : I understand that. Plus RDJ kills in that one too.

RL : Also I dont have as much of a hate boner for Pepper that you all do.

VM : Should I censor that?

I honestly don’t know.

WS (Said literally the exact same way as Ken Watanabe in Godzilla) : No, Let Al Fly.

VM : I mean, I left your love Affair with Ultron in there without context so I might as well.

R : Pepper has a lot of fans. I just dislike controlling humans, who put their relationships before the universe.

Yeah, i think you should leave it in there

I need to watch the iron man movies again though. For realz.

VM : I mean, we can do those as Commentaries but I say we take a bit of a break after this one.

R : Yeah, i get that.

RL : I just try to be honest with myself: if Alyssa (Al’s wonderful Girlfriend, who actually helped us with some of the Age Of Ultron Commentary) were flying around risking her life and mental health fighting super villains when there were other heroes who could do it, I would want her to stop too.

That may make me selfish, and I’m ok with that.

WS : I just dont understand what Pepper wants Tony to do. It’s the same as when Claire tells Daredevil that he needs to stop as ninjas are killing people in the hospital. How is that logical? Is there someone else who can fight ninjas?

RL : I mean, its literally Iron Fist’s destiny to do just that. But I see what you mean.

R : I get her reasoning, but at the same time, if he doesnt fight they both gonna die anyway 🤷🏻‍♀️

VM : Are we really about to start a discussion of how bad Iron Fist is at his job in the first season? Cause I’m game.

RL : He is trash.

WS : No Al, Claire gripes at him as Ninjas are attacking the hospital. Not during a lull.

VM : Season 2, Episode 8 of Daredevil. I back Josh on that one.

RL : Youd think he should be there for that though.

After all HE IS THE IMMORTAL IRON FIST.

R : Thats the rumor.

VM : I love Danny Rand but man, they messed him over in that First Season of Iron Fist.

I think the quote Claire uses is “You don’t need to go around playing the lonely, little, Soldier.”

RL : And that’s in the moment when he is the only option. Not when he’s surrounded by dozens of his superpowered friends who could also do it.

VM : I mean, Claire would be Dead if it wasn’t for Matt in that scene.

WS : Literally Ninjas are rising from the dead, killing doctors and nurses, and Claire is like, “How long can you keep doing this?” To which I would respond, “I think at the very least I should take out this next batch of ninjas that is attacking the hospital AT THIS VERY MOMENT.”

Tony has Spidey and who else?

R : Yeah there *are* other super heroes. But they arent tony stark.

RL : Like I said. It might be selfish. But If my whole world were about to jump headfirst into an alien invasion when other people could, I would tell her not to.

WS : I get it, but there is no one else.

R : There is no other tony.

VM : Out of curiosity, what if the roles were Reversed, Al? What if you were the Hero?

RL : I like to think I would be self-sacrificing. But Alyssa would tell me not to be.

R : When tony was trying to get bruce to turn into the hulk, he quickly figured out, he was the only one in that moment to help out.

But had pepper called, at that moment, she would have @%#&^!* at him.

RL : I think pepper’s image is suffering from the fact that she exists in a world with incredibly altruistic, self-sacrificing people. So when she errs on the side of human with “I dont want my love to die” she gets @%$# on.

VM : Fair points.

RL : Idk. I think I’d like to quote Josh about thanos on this one: she “holds up a mirror to parts of us we hide”

R : I guess.

WS : That might be fair.

RL : As people sitting comfortably on a couch watching a movie we know the ending to, it’s easy to say “just let him fight”

WS : As people who have seen people run from worthwhile fights, particularly in America, yeah, I say let him fight.

But I get your point Al.

RL : In the words of MJ in MacFarlane’s run, “I hate not knowing if today is the last day I’ll ever see you. But you would hate me if I told you not to go”

Hard to imagine that life every single day

WS : I got you beat: in the words of Uncle Ben, “With great power, comes great responsibility.”

RL : That is what makes Peter Peter.

R : I think ultimately, in the land of make believe.. if i were a super hero, id just stay single.

RL : That is the elite strat, Ginny.

VM : Alright, seeing as how this is our last Commentary for a while and the last in our Avengers Series. Do we have a closing word for our readers?

WS : For the readers: enjoy Endgame.

RL : For the readers: never Express concern about a loved one dying in front of the Hardestys.

R : For the readers: follow your dreams and intuition even when a significant other says otherwise.

But for reals: its been a long journey to endgame, i hope everyone enjoys, and i hope it fixes the godawful infinity war movie.

VM : Thank you all so very much for following us on these Commentaries and for continuing to show your support for us. We’ve gotten some great feedback on these and I’d love to do some more in the future.

But most importantly, thank you all for being a part of the Marvel community with the rest of us. These films and stories wouldn’t happen without the dedication of all of us and just like the Avengers, we’ll fall apart if we don’t stick together. Endgame is almost here and an 11 year journey is coming to a close.

Avengers Assemble!

From L to R : Raven/Ginny, Alyssa, Vance/Jacob, Red Lanyard/Al, WiseSage/Josh and the fantastic photoshop of Nick who couldn’t be there at the time.
