Since starting The Fandom Correspondents I have always had one goal in mind for it and one goal only : To be the best site for fans to go to. I write here in the same way that I write my fiction because I write what I want to read about. Which is good because it allows me to continue my passion but I have to say that my true passion is connecting with others. Fandom is a truly wonderful thing because of the effect of enjoying something together. If you ever see me out in public and I’m not in dress clothes then I will have some kind of shirt that has something on it. Luke Skywalker, Superman, Captain America, The Boston Celtics, Led Zeppelin, Link and so on and so forth. I wear these shirts because I want to show that I enjoy these things and I enjoy what they represent. Fandom allows that instant connection because when someone else sees that then we already have our first conversation and honestly some great friendships have begun just because someone saw my shirt. That is the essence of Fandom and I’m here to offer you a chance to get involved.
I plan on 2018 being our biggest and best year yet and that starts with the Fandom For You Initiative. Do you have a series that you’re considering getting into but you’re not sure where to start? Whether it’s a book series, comics, anime, video games or anything else I want you to ask us about it. Fortunately we have 6 main writers here at the fandom correspondents and a pretty good support group outside of that. One of my best friends from work and I were just talking about Anime last night because I have a base understanding of the big ones and I want to learn more and she just starts spouting off name after name of shows and movies to watch so even if it’s something that I don’t know much about then I’m willing to start it off and be as open and honest about it as I can. Maybe there’s a Fandom that we haven’t covered a lot of and you wanna know my opinion about it even though you already know about it. That works just as well.

I would kill for someone to do a how to read it 101 for comics. It was easy when New 52 came out because everything was really clearly labeled and they restarted the franchise. But so often I would pick up a trade paperback from library, start reading and then find out, oh by the way, you need to read these issues from the same character line, but also these other character stories as well and it’s all very daunting.
I’d be happy to work on this, I started something like this last year but I was wanting to revisit anyway.
