Welcome Home.

This is, without a doubt, The biggest news story that I have covered since the inception of the Fandom Correspondents. Yesterday Fox agreed to a buyout from Disney as long as it passes all the legal forms, contracts and things of that nature. This is huge for multiple reasons but it primarily makes it a big deal for because of the acquisition of The X-Men and Fantastic Four Franchise. This means that Marvel can make X-Men films now and I’m so excited to see what they do with the universe. I’m ready to finally see an X-Men film that I can get behind 100%.

Maybe you’re concerned about a few things, like do I really want Disney controlling all of Marvel? Well let’s look at what they’ve given us in the last five years alone.

  • Star Wars The Force Awakens
  • Star Wars Rogue One
  • The Marvel Cinematic Universe(Including The Avengers, Winter Soldier, Guardians Of The Galaxy, Civil War, Spider-Man Homecoming and all the rest.)
  • The Marvel Netflix Series
  • Frozen
  • Moana
  • The Good Dinosaur
  • Inside Out

There’s many others but I’ll just leave it at that. All of those films are 7/10 when looking at the worst and solid 10’s when looking at the best. I’m absolutely ecstatic for Disney to acquire Fox.

This is only developing and it does raise quite a few questions :

1. Can Disney pull off an R Rated Deadpool film?

I think so. Bob Iger has already said that he’s fine with them making an R Rated Deadpool film and I think they’ll do well with it. It will be the first R disney film and I do think they’ll tone down certain aspects but I think it’ll be for the betterment of the character and the film.

2. Will the three movies in Production still be made?

As of right New Mutants is coming out in April, Deadpool 2 in June and Dark Phoenix in November. All of these were Fox productions and I’m assuming we’ll see the first two cause they’re basically done but I’m curious about Dark Phoenix. If I’m Marvel, I would let them finish these last films out and then start looking to the future. Also, I wanna see what they do with this New Mutants movie cause it looks pretty epic.

3. Who will stay on?

Honestly, I’m pretty split on this. Fresh faces is an easy way to make the films their own, but some of these guys have hardly had a chance to perform in the films so I’d be fine with letting them have their second chances.

4. Can the Fantastic Four be saved?

Absolutely, the previous three outings were all just poorly made films and just look at what they’ve done to revive Daredevil, Elektra and The Punisher. Marvel will nail the family style film perfectly and we’ll finally get a good version of Dr. Doom.

5. How will they connect the universes/Introduce the new characters?

So there’s a lot of ways to do this and basically you just need to decide Dr. Doom or Magneto for Phase 4? Following Thanos won’t be an easy task but both of these would be great. House Of M, Secret Wars, Genosha…The Possibilities are endless.

Some people are also throwing out the idea that Magneto could be furious about the death of Quicksilver. Which would be a great start for an Avengers Vs. X-Men storyline but I’m not sure if they’d wanna go that route.

Bottom line, we’ll keep you up to date as we learn more ourselves. This is massive and I just can’t wait to see what happens next.
