5 Years of The Fandom Correspondents.

My name is Vance McCarty and if you had told me 5 years ago about my life today, I would’ve thought you were insane. 5 years ago was the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con and it was during that time that my sister suggested that I start my own Fan page to post about all of the stuff that I was following. I was “Vance McCarty : Fandom Correspondent” About a year later was when I decided that it should be a group effort and added my Brother and Sister and two of my closest friends and then we officially became the Fandom Correspondents. I genuinely love this page and I love our group. It’s small, it’s still learning and it’s very much still a work in progress but we have the heart and passion that embodies the very idea of Fandom itself.

Whether you’ve followed us the entire time or if this is the first time you’ve even heard about us, I truly do appreciate you. If you’re just now joining us Nothing will make me light up more than when someone tells me they’ve been checking out what we’re doing. It’s nice to get some recognition for your work from time to time and even a simple mention can change anyone’s day. I encourage you to do this for any of your friends that are artists, writers or any other kind of creator. It really helps us out.

For those of you that didn’t know, I took a month away from The Fandom Correspondents to focus on my novel and on what I want for the site for Year 5 and I’m so happy to tell you guys what we have coming for you.

First and Foremost, My plan is to have a new article for you every Friday (Starting 8/2) One of the few things that I’ve really wanted to focus on this year is consistently getting things out there for you guys. I think I can stick to this schedule and you know, some weeks may be a 300 word piece on why Spider-Man is great and some weeks may be a 3000 word dissertation on the state of Comics in The 90’s. Either way, I promise to get you something worth reading every Friday.

Next up, I wanted to reveal that we’ll be starting an official Fandom Correspondents Podcast this year! We’ll be starting it either late August or early September, I’m not 100% certain on that date but we’ll be keeping you posted on that as we get closer to it. The one thing that I can tell you for a certainty is that it will be titled “Fandom Talk” and our first subject will be “The Games That Made Us” Which games made us truly fall in love with gaming on a regular basis. You’ll have to tune in to find out! In The meantime though, you can check out this fantastic logo for the Podcast that my friend Wes made for us!

And of course, we won’t just be talking about games, we’ll be streaming them as well!

Starting on Tuesday (7/30) We’ll be back on Twitch. Our Schedule will still be a bit sporadic due to our day jobs but I’ve figured out a solution to this, every Sunday we’ll be posting our streaming schedule on the twitch channel and I’ll be sharing it on Instagram and Facebook so you’ll know exactly when to tune in for us!

I’ve had a few different ideas for the stream and although it is “Limited” to the PS4, that’s still a huge Library to choose from. That being said, my first choice might be an odd one but I’ve been thinking about games that I considered to be better than what most people say, so, my first choice is Batman : Arkham Knight. I’ll be playing through the main campaign and discussing my thoughts on it.

Here’s the Link for the twitch channel! There’s very little on it right but feel free to go ahead and follow because starting on Tuesday there will be plenty!

And last but not least, we finally have a way for people to actually support us in a monetary sense. We have a Patreon Account now set up with a few different tiers for us starting out. If you want to help support us this is the place to do it and we’d appreciate it so much!

Here’s the Link for the Patreon Account!

That’s it for the announcements and these are just the things I’m sharing with you for the site. There’s plenty more coming. The Fandom Correspondents are just getting started and it wouldn’t be possible without you. Thank you so much for your love and support! Hope to see you guys soon!

Also, enjoy this picture of us from like 3 years ago!
