Hey guys! so we decided we wanted to work on something a little different for you all. We’ve done our first official Fandom Correspondents Draft and we decided to start with something everyone loves : Marvel Comics!
So we each had to come up with a team of 7 characters with just a few rules :
- No villians, Heroes and Anti-Heroes Only.
- Anyone from the main Marvel Comic Universe.(No Star Wars, No Disney.)
- Your team has to have 1 leader, 1 powerhouse, 1 wild card and the other four spots can be anything.
- You have to be able to defend each pick with a short opinion piece.
- If you miss a round then you lose that character and you will have to defend your team without them.
So we got together and did our draft order like a traditional fantasy football snake draft with this order
- Craymc
- Wise Sage
- Red Lanyard
- Raven
- Vance
So here is our second round picks!
Vance : Spider-Man(Peter Parker)
It’s fitting that Spider-Man is my second choice right after Iron Man because I honestly like them for a lot of the same reasons. Both men are true heroes and nothing ever stops them from that. Peter is the quintessential hero when it comes down to it. He always wants to be the best version of himself and wants to do nothing more than help people. Peter never gives up whether it’s a fight for his life or a fight to make his date with Mary Jane. Every aspect of his life is given 110% from him which is why he works so well, because when Peter Parker says he cares then you know it’s genuine.
The classic “With great power, comes great responsibility” is everything that he’s about and you know that you can always count on Peter when you’re down and out. Also, he’s incredibly inventive and is easily one of the most intelligent men in the Marvel universe so it was a really easy choice for me.
Raven : Bucky Barnes
“I remember all of them”
Is there a character with more depth? I don’t think so.
With Bucky you have the heart of a hero, with the skills of a villain, due to the whole once brain-washed-russian-assassian thing. Widely considered as the greatest marksman in the world (some may say second to hawkeye, but some would be wrong) and extremely proficient in hand to hand combat.
And of course, because of the forementioned brain washing, he has to fight to be a hero and over come his mind control. Which definitely makes him a cut above the rest. With Bucky, I’m with him til the end of the line ❤
Red Lanyard : Scarlet Witch
The thing about Scarlet Witch is that she’s one of those characters who a lot of people don’t know much about, but the people who do know about her are absolute fanatics. And let me tell you, you beautiful peaches—
I am a Wanda Maximoff fanatic.
To some people, especially people only familiar with the movies, Scarlet Witch might appear as an odd choice for my power house pick. Sure, she’s no Incredible Hulk or God of Thunder. But rest assured, Scarlet Witch is one of the most powerful beings in the Marvel Universe. Want an example? Sure! At one point, Wanda was so distraught by grief and the chaos of her world that—while efforts by both Professor Xavier and Dr. Strange himself failed to control her powers, by the way—she recreates reality to fit a world in which her family might be safe, changing the course of history by the sheer power of her will. Later, she mutters the words “No more mutants.” With those three words, Scarlet Witch again alters the very fabric of reality to create a world in which several of the strongest mutants, including Magneto, lose their powers.
So yeah. She might not have a hammer or a big green alter-ego. But she can warp reality with a few words and strong emotions. So there’s that.
Beyond her powers, however, is another important reason why I chose Scarlet Witch: she’s a great character who would fit in well with the rest of her team (whom I unfortunately cannot yet reveal). Her years served as an Avenger under Captain America—who my friend WiseSage has established as an excellent leader himself—have given her tons of experience working as part of a coordinated team, and her history of loss and trauma has instilled in her a high value for peace and cooperation in the world. As a powerhouse, she is more than capable of going toe-to-toe with some of the strongest villains in the Marvel Universe. But more importantly, as an Avenger she will do whatever it takes to ensure no more innocent people are hurt.
Wise Sage : Wolverine
I hope that the readers are enjoying the sheer lunacy of this draft. Personally, I am amazed that Wolverine drops to me at the 9th pick, especially considering what went ahead of him. But hey, I don’t mind picking against the Fandom equivalent of the Cleveland Browns.
Anyway, my reasoning for picking Wolverine is simply that he is the best in the world at what he does, and what he does isn’t pretty. If you are familiar at all with Wolverine, then you are familiar with the previous statement. The crazy canuck has tangled with just about every type of enemy, and he almost always comes out on top. He is a master assassin, a trained samurai, and, due to his keen senses, a master tracker, who has the ability to ferret out disguises. Wolverine is a killing machine, and if a conflict devolves into a desperate fight, then I want Wolverine on my side.
Craymc : Magneto
Ok so imagine Magneto is your leader, right? He tells you to do something and you’re like “no i aint doing that” then boom, he magnets your car keys away. Guess you’re walking home, idiot. Maybe you smart off to him? Guess what? You’re cell phone is now shaped like a donut. Do you know how much of your stuff is metal? Like so much. Dont mess with Magneto
