Hey guys! Just wanted to give you all updates on what’s going on in the Star Wars universe so let’s get right to it.
Star Wars Battlefront II
First and foremost, Yes, I have heard about all of the Battlefront II complaints and I will do a full article on the game when I play it for a while. I’ll be getting it tomorrow and will be streaming a lot from it on Wednesday and Thursday. So be sure to check that out.
New Star Wars Trilogy?
That’s right! Rian Johnson has been attached to helm a new Star Wars Trilogy. They’ve announced that these films will be separate from the Skywalker saga which is something that fans have been wanting for a long time. Star Wars is a huge universe so let’s see what we can get from another corner of the universe. These will be entirely separate from the other films set beyond Episode IX, Kathleen Kennedy has already talked about how they plan on releasing more films Featuring Rey, Finn, Poe and the rest following the ninth film in the saga. No word on release yet, just that it’s a brand new series featuring new characters and that Rian Johnson will write and direct.
Star Wars Games
EA is the company behind Star Wars Battlefront and is the primary game company with the license(I think, I could be wrong about that last part) and they recently bought out Respawn Entertainment. This could be really good or really bad. They’ve come out and said that there will be no lay-offs and that all announced games are still moving ahead as planned, including their Third-Person Star Wars Shooter. That’s the good part, the bad part is the idea of EA being behind everything. EA has consistently been loot crate heavy and they’re very greedy from a company standpoint. My hope is that they move forward with Respawn’s stuff without forcing them to add pay walls and grinding through hundreds of hours of gameplay like they have in the past. I’m fine enjoying a game for a long time but there’s a difference between that and grinding. I love what Respawn did with Titanfall and I’d love to see what they can do with a Star Wars Game.
EA had recently announced that Visceral Games would be shut down and that Amy Hennig’s Star Wars game would be refocused from a linear story driven game into something else. I’m assuming something with a more open world feel from the way they were describing it. I love the idea of an Open world Star Wars game but I also wanted to see what Hennig could do with a Star Wars story considering her previous work on Uncharted made for some great storylines. They haven’t announced whether she will stay on the project or not.
New Star Wars Show
There has been talks about a live action Star Wars series for a long time and it’s finally happening. It will supposedly be one of the flagships for the Disney Streaming service that will start in 2019. No word on who’s attached to make it or star in it or even what it’s about yet. All I know is more Star Wars is always good to me.
